Fun in the Snow!

Sometimes I wish I lived
in a snowy part of the country,
so that I could try making
something like this:

"Colored Glass"
This idea came from Hurrayic
Thank you for sharing such a messy,
yet imaginative idea!

You need:
water balloons
food coloring
plastic bag(s)
cookie sheet with sides
newspapers or old towels
scissors
old clothing that you don't mind getting dirty
snow boots, coats & gloves (for after)

 WORD OF CAUTION:
This is a messy craft!
Food coloring will stain, so do this with newspaper,
wear old clothes you don't mind getting dirty and make sure you wipe your hands before touching those clean walls!
Or better yet, do parts of this outside in the cold.
Add no more than 1 drop of food coloring, any more than one drop & you'll have a mess on your hands!

Fill balloons with water & tie them closed...

Put the water balloons into a ziplock freezer bag
(this helps avoid any freezer disaster clean up)
and freeze over night...

Put on some old clothes, remove the rubber balloons from your rocks & place them n a cookie tray (you may want to do this outside to prevent melting. And start having fun with your new "colored rocks"!

So fun...

Thanksgiving Leftovers

I loved this article...

"Extreme Leftovers"
10 Crazy Ways to Eat Well
The Day After Thanksgiving
from Yahoo

Here are 3 of my favorites from the posting...

Stuffing French Toast Cut slices of leftover cornbread dressing and dredge in a mixture of egg, milk, and vanilla, then fry in butter. Top with maple syrup.

Mashed Potato Pancakes Combine 2 cups leftover mashed potatoes with 1 egg and a pinch of garlic powder. Heat oil in skillet, add potato mixture and flatten with spatula. Flip. Top with cranberry pepper jelly and a pile of watercress.

Turkey Skin "Chips" Heat a small amount of oil in a saute pan. Add turkey skin and fry until crisp--2 or 3 minutes. Drain on paper towels then use as topping for a shredded turkey taco topped with avocado, sour cream, and fresh crumbled farmer's cheese. Yes, it sounds gross, and my family would LOVE it!!!

Best Mashed Potatoes Ever!

Tis the season for comfort food!
And mashed potatoes definitely
fall into the "comfort food" category...
thus I just have to share this little gem

from

Cook 1/2 pound chopped bacon until crisp.

Make Classic Mash

Replace half of the butter with 2 to 4 tablespoons bacon drippings.

Fold in most of the bacon + 1 cup of grated cheddar

Sprinkle the rest of the bacon on top
